How Iris and Alpacas Relate
In the first place, our family loves both the flower iris and alpacas. It takes alpaca compost to grow great iris. So when our first female alpaca (called a cria) was born, her name was a no-brainer: Iris. So the profile picture is of Iris with her "Dad" when she was about 6 weeks old and weighed about 28 pounds. She's a big girl now, and has her own cria--Clancy who is now about 5 months old. She is due to have a new cria in August--a girl this time we hope, to be named Poppy if female (continuing our practice of female crias receiving flower names), and Mithos if male, continuing our practice of giving Highlander names to male crias: Highlander, Conner. You can see more of our alpacas and iris on our website www.sprucecorner.com. Come visit.
